ESET Security Review
eset security review
ESET’s suite is the best value-for-money. Its malware detection rate is close to perfect, and it packs a solid assortment of additional features into smaller footprint. Premium versions include parental controls, a secure web browser, and a password manager, while the Android package comes with a theft prevention feature that helps you locate your lost phone. The security features for networks are as well, with a firewall and an option to check your home devices for vulnerabilities.
One of the most popular is SysInspector, a handy tool that takes a snapshot of your system and highlights running processes, important Registry entries, and other information. It isn’t easy for newbies. If, however, you are familiar with task managers such as the ones in Sysinternals Process Explorer, you’ll feel at ease.
Scheduling scans at a specific time is a fantastic feature. This is an excellent alternative to real-time security, and it’s simple and quick to use. It’s a shame ESET does not group it with other scheduling tasks and their UI makes this somewhat harder to locate than their competitors.
Other notable features include a powerful form filler for online banking, an outstanding spam filter that has earned the highest scores in our tests, and a effective password manager that’s simple to use. The password manager is only available in the premium version, and requires an ESET account, however it works just as well as the standalone solutions I’ve tried.
